«Newsday» is an American daily newspaper in New York State, founded in 1940 by Alicia Patterson, daughter of Joseph Patterson, then the owner of such American newspapers as the «
Chicago Tribune» and «
New York Daily News», the latter of which he was also the founder. Translated from English, the newspaper is literally called «News of the Day». The publication is distributed primarily in New York State and its Nassau and Suffolk counties, as well as in the so-called Boroughs (municipalities) of Queens and Long Island. The newspaper is headquartered in Melville, Suffolk County. Newsday is the winner of 19 Pulitzer Prizes. In terms of its format and content, «Newsday» is practically a regional version (or even a copy) of the city's «New York Daily News» — short and interesting articles on various topics, provided with an abundance of photos.
