«Olé» — is the national sports daily of Argentina, which has been published since May 23, 1996 in Buenos Aires. The newspaper became incredibly popular after its main competitor «
El Gráfico» (now an online monthly) was shut down in 2002. Today, «Olé» is the only sports daily newspaper in Argentina. «Ole» has received several awards from the American Society for News Design for innovation in the field of design.
The publication is mainly devoted to football, as well as other popular sports in Argentina, each of them has a whole section (basketball, rugby, tennis, athletics, boxing, auto racing). On the first 3 pages of «Ole» are published simply interesting sports news and analytical reports. They are immediately followed by thematic sections. In the electronic version of the publication, each football company has a separate section: Aldosivi, Argentinos, Arsenal, Atletico-Tucuman, Banfield, Boca-Juniors, Central Cordoba Santiago del Estero, Colon, Defensa y Justica, Estudiantes, Gimnasia y Esgrima, Godoy Cruz, Huracan, Independiente, Lanus, Newells Old Boys, Patronato, Racing, Revel Plate, Rosario Central, San Lorenzo, Talleres, Union, Velez.
The section devoted to football traditionally begins with an overview of the latest matches and presentations of teams, players, and coaches. Events are offered in order of importance, starting with the teams of the first division of Argentina and ending with juniors. It also provides an overview of international football events, especially in the Spanish and Italian leagues. Each significant match is analyzed in detail by several critics, and detailed statistics of the game, situations, actions of individual players, and the team as a whole are provided. Finally, in the «Medallero» column, the newspaper awards awards-titles to certain players: Maradona (best player of the match), Chenemigo (best and worst player of the match), Gandhi (most diligent player), Terminator (most aggressive player), and others.
Other sections of the newspaper, depending on the season, are devoted to: auto racing, basketball, track and field, rugby, hockey. The newspaper is traditionally an informational sponsor of the annual cycling race «Vuelta a San Juan», which is held at the end of January and opens the calendar season of world cycling events. The online TV channel «Olé TeVé» and the online radio «Olé Radio» with podcasts are available for readers of the electronic version of the newspaper and visitors to the website.
