«El Gráfico» is the first sports-related daily newspaper in Argentina, published by «Editorial Atlántida» in print form for almost 100 years (from 1919 to 2018). Due to financial problems and disagreements in the management, the magazine experienced serious difficulties with the beginning of the new century and was published as a weekly, and from 2002 to 2018 — only once a month. Then the publication was transformed into an online magazine. Many well-known personalities of Argentina noted that with the closure of this publication, part of the country's history has become a thing of the past.
«El Gráfico» was considered the most informative sports daily not only in Argentina, but also in all of Latin America. Among the readers, it even earned the nickname «La Biblia del deporte» (The Bible of Sports), the best sports journalists worked here and you could always find detailed sports chronicles and photo reports. In terms of its significance, the publication can be compared with the American sports magazine «
Sports Illustrated». The publication was most popular during the 1978 and 1986 FIFA Cups, when it sold a record 500,000-700,000 copies, and Diego Maradonna was the most popular face on the cover.
Like most sports publications, the newspaper focused on football, especially highlighting the «Fútbol Criollo» (Creole Football), a world-famous football style in Latin America, characterized by great artistry and emotion. Here you could always find detailed analytics of all local matches and football teams, European football was in second place, followed by an overview of other sports: basketball, volleyball, boxing, cycling, motorsport, rugby, hockey, tennis.
The traditional issue of the publication consisted of more than 100 pages, the main sections of the publication:
- Ensayo Fotográfico (photo reportages);
- Onside (short sports news, ratings, charts);
- 100x100 (100-question interview format);
- Fiebre Argentina (international press review of Argentine football and players);
- Nota de Tapa (theme of the issue, event, or cover person);
- Confieso que he Aprendido (first-person interview);
- Disparador (discussions on sports topics);
- Joyas del Archivo (historical notes, chronicle of a day in history, archive);
- La Nota de los Lectores (answers to readers' questions);
- De la A a la Z (a page dedicated to a foreign football player with a short feed of facts);
- Auto-In (motorsport);
- Tercer Tiempo (reviews of radio shows, movies, TV, books);
- Síntesis (review of all Argentine matches);
- Stop (editor's column, favorites);

In 1996, this newspaper had a competitor, the sports daily «
Olé», which today remains the only daily sports newspaper in Argentina.
