«Diario Oficial El Peruano» or better known by its acronym «El Peruano» is the official government newspaper of Peru for publishing various notices, statements, decrees, laws and their amendments, orders, regulations, tenders, analytical and statistical reports on the activities of departments. All laws adopted by the Government are considered to have entered into force after publication in this newspaper. In addition to the main part, the newspaper publishes a lot of informative news and materials on various topics: Politics, Economics, Sports, Technology, Education, Agriculture, Science, Industry, Culture, Leisure. Newspaper appendices: Variedades, Jurídica (Laws, Jurisprudence, Law), Economica (Economics), Lo Nuestro, Economía&Derecho. The newspaper has been published since October 22, 1825 and is considered the oldest active newspaper in Latin America, which continues to be published. It has been published in electronic form since 2001 and is free to download from the official website. In English, the newspaper is called «Peruvanets», that is, «Resident of Peru».
This newspaper was created for the official publication of laws and various orders. Its founder, Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Bolivar de la Concepcion y Ponte Palacios y Blanco, better known simply as Simon Bolivar, general and leader of the war of independence of the Spanish colonies in America, who liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Peru from Spanish influence, is a national hero of Venezuela.
At the time of its foundation, the newspaper was called «El Peruano Independiente» and later changed its name several times: «La Prensa Peruana» (1828-1829), «El Conciliador» (1830-1834), «El Redactor Peruano» (1834-1836, 1838), «La Gaceta de Gobierno» (1835), «El Eco del Protectorado» (1836-1839), «Lima El Eco del Norte» (1837-1838).
