The French digital newspaper «Mediapart» was created in 2008 by one of the editors-in-chief of «
Le Monde» to publish professional journalistic materials: analysis, criticism, reports, reports and investigations. A special feature of the Mediapart publication is its complete independence in publications: financial (the newspaper has no financial sponsors, advertising and custom articles are not published here), voluminous (the electronic format is not limited in volume), censored (articles are not passed through the editorial department and are not subject to restrictions). The newspaper receives revenue only by selling subscriptions. This business model with a focus on electronic publications in France was long considered utopian, but the newspaper quickly gained popularity. Readers were willing to pay for really high-quality and independent information.
The electronic edition of Mediapart itself consists of two parts: the actual section with analytics, reports and investigations from professional journalists (Le journal) and the club of interests (Le Club), where various materials are published (interviews, reports, reviews, stories, discussions) at the request and under the control of readers themselves (politics, economy, society, elections, various reports on current topics, historical sketches, interviews with interesting people, reviews of exhibitions and cultural events, literature, films). The Mediapart newspaper has played a significant role in uncovering and investigating many major French political and economic scandals.
Access to the main part of the materials is provided by a paid subscription. For free review, the reader is offered a limited list of materials, as well as titles and previews of full-length articles. The newspaper is updated several times a day. The main materials are available in French, and some of the materials are also published in English and Spanish in translation. The publication also includes podcasts and videos.
