«Nhân Dân» is the central print organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam, calling itself the «Voice of the Party, State and People of Vietnam». The name of the newspaper sounds like «Nyan Zan», and in translation into English means «People». The first issue of «Nhân Dân» was published on March 11, 1951, replacing the newspaper «Sự Thật» (Pravda), which was published in the 1940s. The new edition was supposed to be more national, official and less propagandistic. «Nhân Dân» has effectively become the country's official state newspaper. At various times, many famous figures of the Communist Party of Vietnam, cultural figures, scientists, artists, and writers worked and published in this newspaper. The newspaper went through a difficult path of formation, survived two wars and a period of financial crisis, a change in political and economic course. Today, it tells in an accessible form about the country and its relations with the world, its politics, economy, and history. This is a real encyclopedia of modern Vietnam.
In electronic form, the newspaper is presented in 5 versions: Vietnamese, English, Spanish, French and Russian. The full version, of course, is Vietnamese, the rest are published with partial borrowing from the original + additional materials that may be of interest to a specific audience. The printed version of the newspaper is published in Vietnamese with a circulation of approximately 130,000 copies. The Sunday edition is called «Nhân Dân cuối tuần», it is less popular (110 thousand copies).
The newspaper has received numerous awards, including the «Order of Ho Chi Minh», the «Golden Star», and the «Hero of Labor». Today, «Nhan Dan» cooperates with many foreign publications and journalists, offering its readers borrowed, translated into Vietnamese and adapted articles from the best representatives of the world's press.
