«The Harvard Crimson» is the university publication of Harvard University in the USA, the oldest university in the USA and one of the most famous universities in the world. It has been published since 1873 and was originally called «The Magenta» (after the official color of the university's logo), was published by students of «The Harvard College» and was a regular student newspaper with a periodical. In 1875, as a result of a student vote, the color of the university's logo was changed to purple, and the name of the newspaper was also changed to «The Harvard Crimson». Translated from English, its name means «Harvard Purple». Since 1883, it has been published daily. In addition to official information, the newspaper published sports results, reports on student events, book reviews, and much more. In 1915, the editorial board bought out Harvard Illustrated, which allowed it to become less financially dependent on the university. Until the 1950s, the editorial content of the newspaper was determined by the university. In 1965, The Harvard Crimson, Inc. company was founded, which became the basis for complete financial and editorial independence of the publication.

Today, «The Harvard Crimson» is published daily by «The Trustees of The Harvard Crimson», a nonprofit and university-independent organization. Any student of this university can become a journalist, editor or photographer of a newspaper by filling out a special questionnaire and meeting a number of requirements. Among the most famous authors of this newspaper were such later well-known personalities as John F. Kennedy. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt, Anthony Lewis and Jim Kramer. The Harvard Crimson is the only university newspaper in the United States that has its own printing press and has been published in color since 2004. The publication, known in the student community under the abbreviated name «The Crimson», covers a wide range of topics that may be of interest to students: education, career, university and campus life, career, employment, research. Today in the newspaper you can find such sections: Art (Culture), Business, Design, Editorial (Editor's Column), Multimedia, News, Sports, Technology. The newspaper is distributed throughout Harvard University and its campus (Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School, Harvard University Science Center, Smith Campus Center), its main readers are students and university staff, as well as applicants.
