This sports newspaper was founded by Turkish businessman Dinc Bilgin in 1991 to publish photo reports on local sports events. Translated into English, it is called «Photomatch». Later it was joined by «Taraftar» newspaper and its updated edition was called «Taraftar Fotomac». And then, when another Turkish sports newspaper, «Pas» (2003), also decided to join their project, the name was changed again — «Pas Fotomac». Due to the financial debts of its owner in the mid-2000s, the newspaper «Pas Fotomac» was confiscated by the local insurance fund and then put up for sale. The new owner of the newspaper was «Ciner Holding», and under his leadership the newspaper became a modern publication.
Today, «Fotomac» is considered the most popular sports newspaper in Turkey and surpasses its main competitor «
Fanatik». Like most other sports publications, «Fotomaç» is mainly devoted to football. Its pages provide a detailed overview of both local and European football, all matches and rounds with detailed analytics. The second significant topic of the newspaper is basketball, both local and international. Other sports are not covered in such detail: other ball games (volleyball, handball, American football, golf), hockey, track and field, cycling, auto and moto racing, biathlon, gymnastics, horse riding, archery, chess, water polo, sailing, swimming, various sports wrestling and boxing (karate, taekwondo).
The print edition covers only the key events of these sports and various analytics (approximately 10 pages). In this regard, the electronic version is more extensive in content and is not limited to the number of pages. Here every sports team (Trabzonspor, Istanbul Basaksehir FK, Galatasaray, SivassporAlanyaspor, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Goztepe, Gaziantep-bsb, Yeni-Malatyaspor, Genclerbirligi, Denizlispor, caykur-rizespor, Antalyaspor, Konyaspor, Ankaragucu, Kasimpasa, Kayserispor) and every sporting event (Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A 1, La Liga, Bundesliga, UEFA, NBA, Youth Leagues, Local Championships, Olympic Games) have separate pages.
