«The Taipei Times» was launched in June 1999 to become Taiwan's leading representative in the international media market. The newspaper was intended primarily for foreign readers: investors, businessmen, students, tourists, diplomats, and was supposed to tell about the events and prospects of the country in English. It reflects the official position of the government, but is considered an independent publication aimed at a wide range of readers. The publication contains a lot of photos, humor, cartoons, articles written in an interesting and fascinating way.
«The Taipei Times» daily is published in English on 20 pages. It consists of 3 main sections: local and international news (Taiwan and Asia news, local and international business news, opinions and prospects), the "Future" section (interviews, analytics, tourism, culture, art, cinema, music) and sports. The newspaper has bilingual pages in two languages, which can be useful for students of Chinese as a foreign language.
The publication has several awards, mostly for best design and innovation. Distribution: shops, airports and hotels, tourist centers, exhibitions, seminars, consulates, free sale. Subscription is available for both individual and corporate clients, diplomats, and representative firms.
