The Polish newspaper «Rzeczpospolita» was founded in 1920. There are several variants of spelling and pronunciation of its name in English: Zhechpospolita, Rechpospolita, Rhechpospolita. The name of the newspaper means «Common Cause» or simply «Republic». Until 1931, it was published irregularly, after which it gained the status of one of the most important national newspapers in Poland. Today it is not only a popular media outlet, but also a part of Polish history.
During the Second World War, the publication was directly associated with the Polish Popular Resistance Movement. Immediately after — the Polish National Liberation Committee. During the Soviet era, Rzeczpospolita represented the interests of the Communist Party and was a censor messenger for the regime. Only in the 1980s did the newspaper become less dependent on the party line and was able to make independent decisions on the publication of articles. At the moment, the subject matter of the publication is considered to be moderately conservative, the newspaper adheres to a neutral point of view and a serious style of presentation of the material, it is a serious information and analytical publication. «Rzeczpospolita» is published daily, except on Sundays.
One of the recognizable features of «Rzeczpospolita» is that each issue of the newspaper consists of three main sections, and each of them has its own color: white (news), green (business and economics), and yellow (law and order, law). The electronic version of the newspaper has more sections: Kraj (national news of Poland), Świat (review of international news), Ekonomia (economics, finance), Prawo (laws, law), Regiony (regional news), Opinie i komentarze (discussions, analytics), Nauka, Kultura, Moto.rp.pl (cars, motorcycles, transport), PlusMinus (educational magazine), Medycyna i Zdorowie (health and medicine), Kadry (work, career, education).
