The history of the creation of the newspaper «Pobeda» (The Victory) is closely connected with the history of Montenegro. The first issue of «Pobjeda» was printed on October 24, 1944 in the town of Niksic as part of the active actions of the «People's Liberation Front». After the third issue was published, the editorial staff moved to Cetinje and remained there until 1954, when it moved to Podgorica. Until 1975, it was published approximately once a week, and only after that it switched to a daily publication. During the existence of Yugoslavia, the newspaper was freely sold in the cities of Belgrade, Zagreb, Sarajevo, as well as in the countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia. At the moment, it is distributed in Serbia and Montenegro and represents the position of the official government, which is also published by it.
