Corriere della Sera is an Italian daily evening newspaper published in Milan since 1876. The name of the newspaper in English means «Evening Messenger» or «Evening Courier». From the early 1900s to the present, Corriere della Sera is one of the most popular and widely circulated Italian newspapers. The founder and first editor of the newspaper was the Italian journalist Eugenio Torelli Violier, but the greatest influence on the popularity of the newspaper was Luigi Albertini, who headed it in 1900-1925. Today it is published 7 days a week. The newspaper publishes the analytical magazine «Sette» (Seven) on Fridays, the women's magazine «Io Donna» and the entertainment app «Tempi liberi» on Saturdays, and the cultural bulletin «La Lettura» on Sundays.
Corriere della Sera has long been the leading propagandist of the conservative system in Italy, and its editorial policy has also been clearly anti-communist. The newspaper did not hesitate to touch on the most acute topics and described itself something like this: «Il giornale organetto, che ha due sole suonate, una in maggiore per esaltare i meriti dei suoi amici, una in minore per gemere dei demeriti degli avversari» (The newspaper is an accordion with only two strings, one in a major for the other is in a minor key to ridicule the shortcomings of opponents). In the 1950s, it represented and defended the interests of the Northern Italian industrial bourgeoisie. Today, its political direction is close to centrism. In 1997, «Corriere della Sera» became the best-selling brand in Italy. The electronic version of the newspaper, created in 1998, is always in the top ten websites in Italy in terms of popularity. For readers of the electronic version of the newspaper, a web-based TV channel «CorriereTV» is offered with videos on current events of the day.
The main sections of the newspaper are: Roma (capital news, city news, incidents), Milano (Milan news, tourism), Esteri (international news), L'Economia (economics, finance, markets, business, interviews, analytics), Motori (auto, transport), Spettacoli (playbill, theater, cinema, TV, music, show business), Technologia (technology, gadgets), iODonna (fashion, style, beauty), L'intervista (interviews), L'emergenza (breaking news, incidents), Salute (health), CorriereInnovazione (innovations, trends).
