The largest Sud Ouest publications are the Pyrenees-Atlantiques, Dordogne, Gironde, Lot and Garonne, Charente. Each version of the newspaper has a general part (national news, international news, politics, economics, sports, educational and entertainment section) and regional inserts (regional news, communes and cities, society, official information, information and advertising).
Sud Ouest is the third most widely circulated regional French newspaper, its name translates from French as «South-West». The newspaper was founded in 1944 in Bordeaux by Jacques Lemoine, who managed the publication until 1968, when the newspaper passed to his son. The newspaper quickly spread throughout the region, buying out local publications and opening local offices in communes. Today, the newspaper is owned by the Sud Ouest Group (media, press, TV7 Bordeaux, book printing), whose assets are distributed as follows: the Lemoine family (80%), journalists (10%), staff and editorial staff (10%). The total circulation of all editions of the newspaper is more than 200 thousand copies. This is a subscription publication, but it is also available for free sale. A club is organized for subscribers of the publication, whose members enjoy various discounts.
