This newspaper traces its history back to the Second World War, when an underground leaflet «Voix du Nord» (The Voice of the Nord), named after a local resistance group, was published in the German-occupied territory of France in the Nord region in the north of the country, in the city of Lille. It was first published in April 1941 and soon became a full-fledged newspaper. In the post-war period, its publication was continued, and local versions appeared for the nearest regions. The newspaper developed rapidly, actively participating in the life of the region.
In 1955, Voix du Nord participated in the creation of the «Four Days of Dunkirk» cycle race, and in the same year the circus show «La Voix du Nord» was launched. In 1960, the newspaper acquired its shoreline competitor, Le Nouveau Nord Maritime. Since 1966, the newspaper has been actively implementing modern technologies for managing the layout and printing process.
