Roman Catholic French weekly. Published since 1924, it was previously known as «La Vie catholique» (The Catholic Life), the magazine has had its current name since 1977. In 1945, it was published as La Vie catholique illustrée (The Illustrated Catholic Life). Initially, the publication was distributed through church parishes and only since 1976 it has been available for free sale.
Since 1945, the magazine was published by the group «La Vie catholique», which in 2003 became part of «La Vie-Le Monde». At the moment, the publication is completely independent of the Catholic hierarchy, but retains the same traditions. The publication adheres to a neutral position and tries to cover events from different sides and in different opinions: politics, economy, lifestyle, world, religion, culture, television. Traditionally, one page in a newspaper is reserved for publications by psychoanalyst Gerard Miller. The main goal of La Vie is to provide the reader with a Christian perspective on world events, to help everyone find their vocation and place in life, to find spiritual balance, to learn to understand and accept others. La Vie standards: solidarity, rule of law, tolerance.
In 2001, on the basis of the newspaper, the charity organization «Les Amis de La Vie» (The Friends of La Vie) was created, which consists of 3 thousand people and has many representative offices throughout France. On its basis, various meetings, events are organized and significant social decisions are made.
