«Hufvudstadsbladet», also known as «Husis» and «Höblan», and abbreviated as «Hbl», is the most widely distributed Swedish — language newspaper in Finland today. It was founded by Josef August Schauman, a Finnish journalist, politician and writer in 1864. Translated into English, it is called «The capital Newspaper» or simply «The Citys Newspaper». It is published for residents of the territory bordering Sweden (Kilpisjärvi, Tornio, Haparanda, Myarket Island, Trermksreset, and others). Throughout the 19th century, it retained the title of «the most widely circulated newspaper in Finland». In 2006, «Hufvudstadsbladet» was named the «Best European Newspaper». In 2014, «Hufvudstadsbladet» launched a new digital evening edition, Hbl Kväll. It is intended for the Swedish-speaking audience living in Finland, mainly on the border of the two countries.
