«Granma» is the official publication of the Communist Party of Cuba and its Central Committee. The newspaper was named after the yacht on which Fidel Castro and his crew arrived in Cuba in 1956. Granma was formed by combining two publications in 1965: «Revolución» and «Hoy». Published daily in Spanish with an average circulation of 500,000 copies, it is the most widely distributed and widely read newspaper in Cuba. It is published weekly in an extended version («Granma Weekly Review») in other popular European languages (English, Italian, German, French, Portuguese) and is distributed to diplomatic missions, consulates, representative offices of companies and abroad («Granma Internacional»).

The subject of the publication is extensive. In addition to official government publications, it covers the entire news sector: politics, economics, news from the Latin America region, international news, industry, agriculture, culture, society, sports, TV program, radio guide. The newspaper has a lot of criticism, cartoons, various reports, figures, achievements, all articles are strictly censored. The regular issue of the newspaper is published daily, except on Sundays and consists of 8 pages with various appendices.
