The Belgian newspaper «Le Soir» (The Evening) was first published in 1887 and was initially free and mainly advertising. During the military occupation of Belgium, the newspaper was banned, published unofficially by the local resistance movement «Front de l'Indépendance» under various headings: «Le Soir Volé» (The Stolen Evening), «Faux Soir» (The Unreal Evening). At this time, it often published comics «The Adventures of Tintin». In the post-war period, its first issue was published on September 6, 1944 with the new title «Free Le Soir» (The Free Evening). At the moment, the newspaper is considered independent and progressive, published every day in the evening. Today, «Le Soir» together with «
La Libre Belgique» form the basis of the entire French-language press in Belgium. The newspaper has been owned by the Rossel family since its foundation, and today they are represented by the Groupe Rossel Corporation, Belgium's leading Francophone media company. The newspaper is a member of the Leading European Newspaper Alliance (LENA), an alliance of leading news newspapers in Europe.
Since the newspaper is published in the afternoon, here you can mainly find a feed of today's morning events and yesterday's analytics.
